Condoleezza Rice and Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan held talks over the phone last night on the Turkish operations into northern Iraq against the PKK. The Turkish Military carried out a small strike on Monday as well as previous operations against PKK militants in Iraqi Kurdish areas. These raids were apparently aided by US intelligence being shared with the Turks. Although it appears not everyone down the chain of command was informed these attacks would be carried out. (more…)

We’ve been covering the tensions between Turkey and the PKK in northern Iraq virtually since our inception. Typing Turkey in our search engine will show you that back log. Seems as now is as good of time as any for an update as tensions seem to be easing, and negotiations with the EU for enlargement are on the horizon. (more…)
