Richard Cohen as apparently decided to throw his lot in with those who aren’t going to vote for Obama because his middle name is Hussein and other equally idiotic myths. Today he decided to use his column to insinuate that Obama at least tangentially supports Louis Farrakhan. His whole line of thought is so far off the reservation he ought to have written this for Fox News.
The column points to a magazine that is put out by Obama’s minister which gave an award to Louis Farrakhan. Cohen finds this disgraceful given the anti-semetic comments Mr. Farrakhan has said over his time as a public figure. Ok fine. But then he spends the rest of the piece asking why Obama hasn’t been outraged about this. Uh, we’re just going to guess here, but maybe because he was busy being a Senator, and he’s not his preachers watchdog? Obama said publicly he doesn’t agree all the time with his minister, and he specifically doesn’t on this issue. Cohen apparently thinks Obama should be picketing outside the church, and the lack of that sort of action some how implies that he supports Louis Farrakhan. Are you kidding? Who put the drugs in your coco puffs this morning Richard?
The fact that this kind of hack job is being done by someone at the Washington Post is disgraceful. We expect this out of the Weekly Standard or maybe the Washington Times. What exactly is his game here? The Obama camp has already issued a statement the crux of which can be found here.
This may well be a new low in the media and we’re only to Michigan.
